Growing and caring for stevia

A short herb called stevia appeared in our area from South America. Due to its sweet taste, this plant was also called honey grass.

Stevia is rich in various vitamins, mineral compounds, amino acids, essential oils and pectins, therefore it is considered very valuable medicinal plant.

The use of this herb is very useful because it improves the functioning of the digestive system, stabilizes blood pressure, promotes metabolic processes, and also reduces cholesterol in the blood.

Due to its beneficial properties, stevia is specially grown both in open ground and at home.

Growing and caring for stevia do not pose any particular difficulties. First of all, the plant needs a sufficient amount warmth and light. When growing indoors, it is best to purchase special soil in the store. Usually this is a mixture of regular soil with peat and sand.

In addition to creating a temperature regime, growing and caring for stevia involves proper watering. It is not recommended to overdry or flood the soil, as this can lead to the death of the plant. Watering should be regular and moderate.

At home, stevia needs constant spraying with water, and air humidification.

Stevia can be used not only as a medicine, but also instead of regular sugar. Stevia tea has a tonic effect, so it is recommended to drink it to restore strength after physical exertion, as well as for nervous exhaustion.

Many studies have proven the safety of stevia for the human body. To date there are no contraindications to its use.
