Caring for indoor cypress

Of the entire cypress family, it is most suitable for indoor growing. large-fruited cypress, which is native to California, and not the Mediterranean, like most cypress species. The plant is easy to purchase, and indoor cypress care is not particularly difficult. Cypress at home grows up to one and a half meters in height, has a columnar shape, which over the years turns into a spreading one. In nature, its needles are dark green, but when cultivated indoors they can take on a lighter shade. It smells like lemon, which is not surprising.
Indoor cypress cannot tolerate dry air during the heating season. It should be provided with high air humidity through frequent spraying. In winter, it is advisable to provide the plant with a temperature of 8-10 degrees. If this is not possible, then you will have to carry out spraying at least twice a day. In winter, the frequency of watering will depend on the maintained temperature. If it is 8-10 degrees, then it is enough to water once every 10-15 days, at 15 degrees - once a week. The hotter the apartment, the more frequent watering the indoor cypress requires. From spring to autumn the plant should be taken out to the garden or balcony, shading from the hot sun, all conifers love fresh air.
Caring for indoor cypress. Of course, it involves feeding, but without fanaticism, otherwise the plant will be much taller than required. It is enough to feed once a month universal liquid mineral fertilizer, but it is better to make the dose half as much as indicated on the package. The plant propagates by seeds and cuttings. Replanting is recommended once every two years, and you need to replant with a clod of soil, i.e. the replacement of soil will be partial. Do not forget that the plant needs good drainage and a mixture of leaf and turf soil with the addition of sand and peat.

In winter you can use it instead of a Christmas tree! It looks very nice. But if I grow it, I feel that I will have to suffer with providing the cypress with moist air.
