Why are aphids dangerous on pepper seedlings?

Aphids on pepper seedlings

Of all the pests that attack peppers, the most dangerous is aphids. Aphids pose the greatest threat to young plants, especially pepper seedlings. Pests grow on the stems and leaves of pepper and feed on its juices.

The appearance of aphids on pepper seedlings does not allow the plants to develop to their full potential:

  • seedling growth slows down,
  • pepper leaves turn yellow and fall off,
  • when planting, plants are poorly received,
  • pepper yield decreases.

The fight against aphids that have infected pepper seedlings is complicated by the fact that it is not recommended to use chemical protection agents indoors. Treatment of plants with folk remedies must be carried out several times, since control methods without the use of insecticides are not effective against aphid eggs.

Ways to control aphids on pepper seedlings

  1. Wash the pepper leaves with soapy water. Dissolve 5 g of crushed soap in 1 liter of water, wipe the leaves on both sides until the aphids on the pepper seedlings disappear.
  2. Spraying pepper seedlings with ash solution. Pour 1 cup of tobacco dust or wood ash into 10 liters of water and leave for a day. Stir the resulting solution well, strain it, add liquid soap - 1 tablespoon, mix. Spray pepper seedlings with a sprayer every morning.
