Growing violets at home

There are about 1,500 species of plants in the violet family, each of which is distinguished by its individual beauty. That's why growing violets at home is especially popular.

Despite the fact that violet needs a lot of light, direct sunlight can be destructive to a delicate flower. Therefore, for growing violets, it is best to choose windows facing west or east.

For 13-14 hours, the violet should constantly receive light. Usually violet blooms at air temperatures from 20 to 24 degrees. When it gets hot, the flowering of the plant stops, so it is recommended to pick off the flower stalks. If the room temperature is below 16 degrees, then the growth of the violet slows down. If you maintain a constant optimal temperature in the room, the violet will delight you with long-lasting flowering.

In addition to the light regime, growing violets at home includes regular watering plants. When watering, you should follow simple rules: do not allow drying out or waterlogging land. For watering it is preferable to use settled water at room temperature. Water only the soil, avoiding contact with leaves and flowers. Therefore, the optimal irrigation option is watering from below. To do this, place the pot of violet in a bowl of prepared water. After the soil is saturated, the pot with the plant must be removed. This type of watering is recommended once a week.

Violets don't really like fertilizers, so you shouldn’t abuse them. A monthly feeding with liquid fertilizer is sufficient.

And I was worried why my violet flowers fell off in a week - it turns out they were flooded. Now I will pour water into the saucer on which the pot stands, the roots themselves will absorb as much water as needed

I love violets very much, and I try to propagate them at home so that I can give them to my loved ones in the future. Although violets are not whimsical, some care requirements must be observed! I agree with what is written in the article, especially about watering. Be sure to water in the pan. I once watered it so much that then all the leaves began to rot, so you have to try not to get it on the leaves when watering! And do not place them on windows where there is direct sunlight, this will cause the violets to wither greatly!!! The article is very useful!
