Is it possible to grow feijoa at home?

The cultivation of an exotic plant called feijoa began just a few centuries ago, and in this relatively short period of time a small green fruit that looks like a peeled walnut, has spread throughout the world. Feijoa contains many elements useful for the body, in particular, in terms of iodine content it is almost ahead of seafood. In addition, this fruit is valued for its excellent taste. That is why many lovers of its aromatic sweet and sour fruits often wonder whether it is possible growing feijoa at home.
It turns out that growing feijoa at home is quite real and, moreover, quite simple. First you need to get the plant itself. The easiest way to do this is extract seeds from cut ripe fruit and thoroughly clean them of the sticky mass in which they are located inside the fruit, in a pale pink solution of potassium permanganate. Then they need to be thoroughly dried and planted in a soil mixture consisting of leaf soil, peat and river sand, taken in proportions 2:2:1, respectively. The seeds should not be placed too deep.
Feijoa is an extremely moisture-loving plant, so it is necessary water regularly and abundantly, and in winter it is advisable to spray with warm water. It is also important to ensure that pests such as brown pseudothyroid and red spider mites do not appear on the plants (if this happens, the feijoa should be immediately sprayed with a solution of karbofos). With proper care five to six years after planting, the plant begins to actively bear fruit.

For me, everything related to growing plants from seeds is always difficult. There is a lot of hassle, and besides, the result is not always pleasing.
