Fertilizers for potatoes

There is no such vegetable as potato, which would be so frequent, but no less desirable, on our table. And that’s why many people are interested in what fertilizers for potatoes used in its cultivation.

In this case, supporters of a healthy diet can rest easy, since potatoes prefer organic, which means safe fertilizers. This is first and foremost manure and bird droppings. They are recommended to be scattered over the soil intended for planting vegetables or applied directly to each hole. A modern alternative to manure is peat manure composts.

Today the use of so-called green manure – green fertilizers. These include peas, sweet clover, clover, winter rye, barley, lupine and other crops. Such fertilizers have a beneficial effect on the condition of the soil, loosening it and enriching it with nutrients.

Fertilizers for potatoes can be mineral. Urea, ash, ammonium nitrate, potassium sulfate and double superphosphate work well here.

Potatoes can be watered liquid fertilizers. To do this, phosphorus, potassium and nitrogen fertilizers are dissolved in water. You can also practice foliar feeding based on macro- and microelements. Superphosphate, copper sulfate, potassium salt and ammonium nitrate are ideally combined.

When starting to fertilize the soil for potatoes, you should remember that this vegetable does not tolerate chlorine well; excess calcium and nitrogen are harmful to it. You also need to be careful when using ash.
