I don’t have quite an alpine slide, it still needs some work. But plants are already growing among the stones. I planted saxifrage, alpine arabis, woodleaf, hosta and sedum. Of the flowering plants, only periwinkle grows on it so far, and due to the fact that it blooms only in May-early June, the rest of the time the hill seems empty.
great selection of plants.
great selection of plants.
The Alpine slide is a delicate matter. I didn’t do it on my own property - there was nowhere, but my friend and I went to help lay out a hill for some people who lived in a large house and had a large garden. From plants it is better to choose winter-hardy plants - young and sedum. The main elements were juniper, yucca, and hosta. Flowers included carnations, tulips, and phlox.
Caring for a slide is the same as caring for ordinary plants. It’s tedious to water and remove weeds - they can also come out in the slide. It happens that plants grow and need to be replanted so that the hill does not lose its appearance.
Yes, I also thought that if you don’t carefully look after the alpine hill, it will quickly turn into just a bunch of weeds and dirty stones. Maintaining beauty is a lot of work.
Of course, I like alpine slides, but there is very little space on my site to create such a masterpiece. So I made an ordinary flowerbed, but to be honest I wouldn’t refuse such a piece of paradise.
I saw in the program a simple way to create an alpine slide on the site. You need to bury the old bathtub upside down in the ground, thoroughly covering it with earth to make a low slide. Then cover it with large and small stones as naturally as possible. Well, the last thing to do is planting the plants.
Very nice! By the way, I’ve already thought about running a hose through the drain hole in the bathroom and creating a waterfall or fountain! beauty! thanks for the advice!
We also don’t have our own alpine slide yet, but we also really want to have one. Various succulents look very beautiful on an alpine hill. I will definitely plant them for myself.
For such a hill, bordered euphorbia is well suited, petunia is not capricious about the presence of other plants and hellebore. You can plant juniper among the bushes.
