Citrus tree from an ordinary seed

Girls, and maybe boys, have you ever tried to grow a real tree from a lemon seed (orange, tangerine, etc.) at home? Do you think that if the seed does sprout, the tree will bear fruit?

Once, as an experiment, I planted a grapefruit seed in a pot, three seeds to be precise. I want to say that they all sprouted and sprouted. The only thing is that I then decided to fertilize my trees for better growth and they died. Apparently there was something wrong with the fertilizer.

I grow lemon. It is imperative to take the seeds from the peeled lemon while they are still wet, preferably several. We plant the bones in cups with prepared soil. I took a store-bought one for citrus fruits, although you can make it yourself. We plant the seed 1 cm deep. We don’t water the soil, we just spray it. The shoots appeared for me after about 3 weeks. Then move the lemon to a lighted place, but water it with moderately warm water. The lemon tree is very capricious. If you move it to another place, it may shed its leaves. It needs to be recompressed periodically.

I have a lemon growing at work, I grew it from a seed, but unfortunately, it grows, but has never borne fruit. Perhaps I'll do something wrong.

I heard that a tree grown from a seed will not bear fruit. And I was convinced of this by my own example. Friends grafted a branch of a fruit-bearing tree onto their lemon and after some time the first fruit appeared.

Yes, no, Arina. A citrus tree grown from a seed will bear fruit, but this will not happen very soon, in 7-8 years. A grafted plant must be purchased from a nursery. But not everyone has this opportunity. And such a tree is simply beautiful in itself - with glossy, densely green leaves.

this is definitely not a year or two, our mother also planted it from a seed, many years passed and there were 2 lemons, and the next time the whole tree was covered, just a miracle, thin skin and very juicy, patience is key

I’m talking about the same thing, you need to buy a grafted plant somewhere, it’s not always possible. It’s not difficult to grow a lemon from a seed; it’s difficult to wait for fruit from it. That's the problem ;-)))

My sister is a big fan of this kind of experiment: she tried to grow everything from a seed. As for the lemon, she managed to grow it, but she couldn’t wait to get the fruit before it died.

Such a citrus tree will not grow from seeds at home! There will be a green bush - but no more - this is a myth. The only thing that can happen is chemical crossing and planting in special conditions, then maybe something will grow in the pot... But will this be useful?

From the seed you will grow a branch up to 20 cm in 4 years. It will not bear fruit. Buy an already grown lemon. Then you need to graft it and only then will you get the fruits.

Several times I grew trees from seeds. For example, lemon and orange. The main thing is to form it correctly so that the plant grows as a tree and not as a long stick. Well, I haven’t had any luck with the fruits yet, I’m most interested in what is needed for this. My lemon is already about 3 years old.
