In order for tomatoes to develop normally, they must have a good root system; for this, they need to be watered no more than twice a week. If you water more often, the roots will be weak and the tomatoes will grow poorly.
Personally, I water tomatoes using this method: before the growing season begins, you need to water as the top layer of soil dries, avoiding overdrying. As soon as the ovaries appear, reduce watering to once a week. Then the tomatoes will gain sugar. And if you continue to pour it, it will be watery and fresh.
Our tomatoes dry out quickly in the summer; in the morning they were watered and by lunchtime they were already dry, almost as if they had not been watered at all, although I pour enough water on each bush. The tomatoes turn out sweet, but there are few of them.
Tomatoes should not be watered often, but generously. In addition to watering, weather variability also affects the future harvest. Therefore, if it rains often, then you need to water the tomatoes less often, no more than twice a week.
In my opinion, a lot depends on the weather. If it is even and there is no particular heat, then two or three times a week is quite enough. If it’s hot, then once a day and towards the end of the day, when the sun is not particularly warm, or in the morning.
It’s very hot here and we water our tomatoes 1-2 times a week, but they still grow somehow very unimportant compared to what I observe from other people. Could it simply be that the watering is insufficient?
If it is hot in summer, then you need to water it 2 times a week, and abundantly. For even better results, you need to mulch. Then the moisture does not evaporate, but remains in the soil.
