Help save the prayer book!
My mother-in-law’s prayer book began to disappear (I don’t know what other name for this flowerpot is), but we can’t establish that he “doesn’t like it” - the leaves are just drying up... It’s such a shame!

This is the first time I’ve heard such a plant name! you need to post photos of it, Otherwise it’s so difficult not only to say how to help save the plant, but even to understand what kind of indoor miracle it is.
ludmila555 correctly named the scientific name of the plant - calathea. But the reason was established. Just imagine, girls, there was... an earthworm in the ground, which undermined the roots! And the land, by the way, was “shopped”!
So your flower has recovered? Good luck! And worms, they say, are useful in the earth, but they, it turns out, are pests.
Congratulations on the recovery of the flower))) And the soil really needs to be reconsidered before planting indoor plants. Sometimes you come across cigarette butts in store packages, not to mention worms. By the way, earthworms are useful, but only in the garden. They are destructive for indoor plants... Even if they don’t get to the roots, the soil that has “passed” through the worm is not nearly as useful.))
Now, before planting each flowerpot, I sift through all the soil! I didn’t find any more worms, but now a button appeared in the “collection”!
Worms or midges, or bugs in a pot with a houseplant have a detrimental effect on its condition. Therefore, as soon as you notice that something is wrong with the plant, you should look at everything carefully.
If you mean calathea, then do not overwater it in winter, but more abundant watering is needed in spring and summer. Calathea does not like direct sunlight. It also happens to my flower that it drops its leaves, or rather they dry out, I cut them off, and new ones grow from the roots.
Oh, I'm very happy too! Always, like you, I am very worried if the plant is over. And store-bought soil needs to be calcined in the oven. Now I do this without fail, but before I was also sure that since the store land meant it was good.
