How to properly store gladioli bulbs?

I planted gladioli for the first time, this year they delighted me with such a gorgeous riot of colors that I want to see such beauty next year. I know that you need to dig up the bulbs somewhere in mid-September. Do they need to be treated with something? At what temperature should they be stored in the apartment and what should they be wrapped in?

Mom grows bulbous flowers and never stores bulbs in the apartment. After he digs them up, he dries them well, wraps each one separately in paper and lowers them into the cellar (dry). Most are well preserved.

We store gladioli bulbs in the same way as garlic. We cut the stem high enough, leave 10-15 centimeters, put it in boxes and put it in a cool, dry place (we have an unheated pantry), and in the spring we peel it, cut the stem and put it in the sun before planting.

If there is no cool cellar, store wrapped in newspaper on the refrigerator shelf, away from the freezer. Or completely clean each onion, dry it thoroughly, and cover it with a thin layer of paraffin (it is heated, slightly cooled, and carefully applied with a brush.).Such waxed onions can be stored in the hallway, in a box, closer to the front door.

I agree that bulbs should be stored in a dry and cool place. In an apartment, this could be a storage room, an insulated loggia, or a Khrushchev-era refrigerator. In a simple refrigerator, the bulbs evaporate too much moisture and deteriorate their quality even when wrapped in paper.
