Indoor maple

I sowed seeds from an indoor maple tree and 3 seeds sprouted. The plants are already quite tall, but the lower leaves are starting to fall off. Tell me how to care for this plant.

Anna, in order to understand how to care for a plant, you need to know the species that is hidden under the name indoor maple. It can be palmleaf maple, palmate maple, false siebold maple, and a host of other species. In indoor conditions, they are formed into bonsai, and the leaves can simply fall off for the winter.

if it is an abutilon - that is, blooming with orange or coral "bells", then the falling of the lower leaves is normal for it. If you want it to be more “fluffy”, in the spring cut it straight without sparing it, to the height at which you want the bush to appear

Since abutilon loves light, a glazed balcony would be an ideal place for it. But direct exposure to sunlight can burn it and cause premature leaf fall. To protect abutilon, it is enough to cover the windows with transparent tulle. The comfortable temperature for abutilon is not high: in summer, 16-25 degrees; in winter, 10-15 degrees. In spring, summer and autumn, the flower needs abundant watering. In winter, at lower temperatures, the amount of moisture can be reduced, but at the same time it is necessary to monitor the condition of the soil. In summer, fresh air is very useful for the flower. On the balcony, with the windows open, abutilon will receive sufficient heat and light. But you need to protect it from wind and drafts. Not in the best way; too dry, hot weather also affects the plant - the leaves may turn yellow and begin to fall off.

In fact, try to choose a mid-light location for your maple tree. Loves light, but not direct sunlight. In addition, do not overdo it with watering, and in winter do not keep it near the radiator.

Mine grows in semi-shade, although for several hours when the sun goes out, it is in the light - I don’t move it. The lower leaves fall off - this is the norm; as a result, a beautiful “crown” is formed, so do not be afraid.
