Cornflowers
I really like cornflowers. But wherever you plant them in the garden, they will always sprout poorly. One bush produces 4–5 flowers, but I would like more. Maybe the soil or lighting is not suitable for them?

You know, about six years ago we sown cornflowers in a courtyard flower bed under the balcony. That's how they grow - they sow themselves every year. We practically do not care for them at all - a couple of times a season we just feed them with any available fertilizer for garden flowers along with other plants in the flowerbed. That's all. They always bloom very amicably - you look from the balcony, as if a blue lake had appeared below.
I first plant them as seedlings, and only then in the flowerbed. Otherwise they won’t sprout either. I germinate the seeds first.
I didn’t even think that I could actually try to plant seedlings. Seeds have worse germination rates and more favorable conditions. And the seedlings will take root much better. Thanks, I'll try.
Obviously, soil is really important for cornflowers, as they don’t grow well in mine either. I changed the seeds and changed the place in the flower bed - they just don’t take root. Later I read that they need bright sun and neutral soil.
I don’t know what kind of soil we have, but cornflowers have been growing in one place for many years in a row, planted by my husband’s grandmother. Her hand was light, we are afraid to transplant it, and her grandmother has been gone for several years.
Our cornflowers grow well in our garden flower bed. There are lilies of the valley in the shade, and cornflowers on the sunnier side. Generally not fancy flowers. We also have chamomile growing there.
I also took it and just sifted it, it grew so beautifully last year, I just watered it periodically

My cornflowers at the dacha were left over from the previous owners, I’ve been taking care of them for two years now and haven’t seen any problems, I think everything will be fine with you too. The flowers didn't seem very picky to me.
It is possible that your cornflowers do not like the soil. Or shading, or something else. In fact, cornflowers are weeds, and they are not very demanding. Where they like it, they grow there.
