Tomatoes are sick

Tomatoes planted in a greenhouse do not grow. The leaves turn purple and then dry up. Why? What do we have to do?

There are two options for stopping the growth of tomatoes and turning them purple:

  1. The air temperature in the greenhouse is low, below +16. Therefore, phosphorus and other useful substances are poorly supplied to the plant. The stem and lower leaves turn purple.
  2. unbalanced nutrition and improper watering. Did you fertilize the soil when planting? It might be worth adding fertilizer.

You can apply not mineral fertilizers, but compost, for example, and then you will not need to think about what kind of fertilizer should be applied. In general, mineral fertilizers gradually increase the acidity of the soil, which is not good.

Try fertilizing the soil with diluted urea, you can buy it at any store, it should help. And I agree with the previous answer, maybe there is something wrong with the temperature, give it more heat.

Maybe in the greenhouse, on the contrary, the temperature is high and the tomatoes simply burn. It is necessary to ensure ventilation of the greenhouse during the day. To keep the air inside moist, you can put a couple of buckets of water.

Most likely there is not enough phosphorus in the soil. Therefore, you need to feed it with superphosphate, or even better, double superphosphate. The prepared solution needs to be watered not only on the ground, but also on the tops.

Leaves can turn purple for two reasons. The first is the temperature regime, the tomatoes are frozen and stop growing, which means it is necessary to increase the temperature in the greenhouse. The second is a lack of microelements, in particular phosphorus, this is corrected with the help of fertilizers.

Water so that water does not get on the leaves. Tomatoes don't like this. At least try. And not during the day, but only in the morning and evening. A lot depends on watering. Well, and from fertilizers, of course.

You can’t water tomatoes often, otherwise they won’t develop a root system. Twice a week will be enough, but you need to water it well. Mulching the tomatoes will prevent them from drying out quickly.
