Sea buckthorn

Few berry bushes and trees can withstand the harsh Siberian climate. That is why the bright orange sea buckthorn berry is familiar to every Siberian. It is worth noting the fact that the varietal berry appeared in Altai only in the 30s of the last century, therefore sea buckthorn is a relatively young crop for Russia. Today it grows both as individual trees in gardens and as small forests. In the latter case, the berries are smaller and the taste is more sour.

Sea buckthorn in a garden is not only a tree with healthy berries, but also a bright decorative ornament that can reach 3 m in height. It is also worth noting that the light-loving sea buckthorn plant has a shallow root system, is frost-resistant and does not require special care. The soil for it should be well moistened and neutral (pH=7).

There are many nuances that can increase the yield and taste of berries. You can find them in this section. It is very important to remember that sea buckthorn is a dioecious plant, so sea buckthorn berries will appear only if female flowers are pollinated by male ones. For these purposes, shake a twig with flowers from a male tree over a tree with female flowers.
