colored potatoes

Good day to all!!! Interested in the Blue Danube. I want to try it. I'm waiting for answers and opinions.

Well, you can try anything, be it blue or blue. Here's the thing:

There is a significant disadvantage that orders are sent only in the spring and by spring they have little left. So either pay in advance or pay on the fly.

Why only in the spring? Is there only one supplier of such seedlings in all of Russia? I think that if you look, there will be no problems with the seed. I already ordered sweet potatoes for spring. I'll try to plant it.

We ordered 4 varieties of potatoes. Sent late. I’m not sure about the lack of planting material, but to be on the safe side, you can order it earlier.

Blue Danube potatoes are ordinary potatoes with a purple skin. But there are also completely colorful varieties of potatoes - their flesh itself is purple and pink. This, in my opinion, is terrible!

And in some countries, mashed potatoes from such potatoes are highly valued. Although personally, I wouldn’t risk trying it, precisely because of the color. I prefer the classic yellowish color of the tuber, like Adretta.

But in my opinion it’s interesting and, by the way, the taste is practically no different from regular potatoes. And the Blue Danube, or as it is also called the Black Baron, is a very good variety. It is good for planting because the variety is practically not affected by late blight, which is not uncommon in our Moscow region.

This type of potato is not grown in our region. Lately we have been using mainly the Rodrigo variety. It is a little reddish, has a good taste and there are very few spoiled potatoes when you buy them.

Blue Danube potatoes are more suitable for making salads, because they do not boil over and taste a little different from what we are used to. Its skin is dense and preserves well for the winter.

My neighbor in the country gave me 8 tubers for a divorce. I planted it and have already harvested it. I liked the shape of the potatoes, oblong and approximately the same size. There are 6-7 pieces in a bush. The taste is no different from other varieties.

With such a low yield of this potato variety, it is not advisable to plant it in a small garden, because other varieties can produce half a bucket of potatoes from one bush.

But why is it needed - some kind of tricky potato? I need it to be fruitful and crumbly. I saw purple potatoes in the store, and even those didn’t tempt me. I’ve eaten the regular one since childhood, and I’ll continue to eat the regular one.

Any potato is grown the same way, but the taste and yield of each variety are different. I like the Red Scarlet, Gala and Nevsky varieties, but I haven’t tried planting the Blue Danube yet.
