Aphids on garden trees

This year we have simply an overwhelming invasion of aphids on the trees, especially on the cherry, pear and plum trees. They have already treated it with tobacco infusion and chemicals, but it is still there. Who can recommend an effective remedy for the fight?

How did you treat the trees? When trees are affected by this infection, I usually use Iskra, which usually helps a lot. You can also try treating it with infusion of garlic or yarrow. And another important point in the fight against aphids is the destruction of weeds near trees. And be sure to treat it with chemicals again after you harvest.

Zolota Iskra helps us, but it’s all a strong chemistry and Fitoverm can be used on flowering trees. This is a drug of natural origin. In addition to chemo, you can use herbs: infusion of wormwood, yarrow.

Thanks for the advice. We also had a lot of this crap this year, probably due to the high humidity. I'll try to use your recommendations.

I’ll tell you honestly, we tried all the drugs listed above, but we still didn’t get rid of the aphids. But the soap solution helped a little.

How to prepare garlic infusion? Can't it burn the tender leaves? I ask because aphids are attacking this summer!

Soapy solution helps a lot. Especially if the sun is shining outside, the solution dries quickly and covers the leaves with a thin film, which causes the aphids to die. But we also tried Agravertine and Fury. They help a lot, they just need to be sprayed again.

Maybe the soil is not suitable for the tree, we have salt marshes and groundwater close by, so the tree dries out after a few years. I took a few new seedlings and checked them, they say they are unpretentious on heavy soils.

You don't need to fight aphids, you need to fight ants. They are the ones who breed aphids. I have 3 apple trees, gooseberries and two currant bushes on my plot. So, by the time we realized that it was the ants that spread the aphids to the most tender leaves, we lost one currant bush; it was literally “eaten” by the aphids.

We poured boiling water over the ants, covered them with barley grits (so yellow and round) - they mistake it for eggs and stop caring about real eggs. As a result, we bought the first product we came across in a syringe, smeared tree trunks and bushes - it helped
