garden at home

I want to plant something “useful” on the balcony. I’ve read several articles on this topic. Maybe someone has real experience in growing tomatoes, cucumbers, herbs, etc. specifically on a balcony or loggia?

It will be easier to buy them, don’t bother.

Many people really want to tinker with the soil, beds, grow a bunch of dill - but they don’t have a dacha or a garden. These are the people who are trying to grow cucumbers and tomatoes on the balcony. Just for the soul.

Yes, it seems like they grew cucumbers and tomatoes on the balcony.

Our family grows green onions in a five-liter bottle. It is unpretentious and grows quickly. For planting we use regular onions. The larger the bulb, the greater the harvest. In winter, such a home garden, embodied in one bottle, pleases the eye with its greenery.

Cucumbers are growing beautifully. I planted Zozulya and was pleased. Lettuce, parsley, and basil work great. The onion grows beautifully. Yes, you can grow tomatoes like Minibel, but I didn’t bother with this little detail.

Only 5 cucumbers grew on my balcony. But for some reason even those were not tasty, soft, as if flaccid. In general, I won’t plant any more; it’s really not worth fooling around with.

And every year we go to grandma and help her plant a garden.

You can grow a lot of things from vegetables and herbs on your balcony. There would be a desire. People even manage to grow strawberries, small watermelons and melons. And greens such as lettuce, parsley, onions, and arugula are very easy to grow. And every year I grow lettuce and onions on the windowsill in the spring.

I think that growing cucumbers on the balcony doesn’t make much sense, since you won’t get a good harvest, but greens actually make sense. I do this myself almost all year round; there are greens on the table.

I had sorrel growing on my balcony. Excellent and fast growing. When the cold came, I moved it into the apartment on the windowsill. All winter I periodically cut sorrel leaves for soup. But of course, without additional lighting above the sorrel, it will not grow normally.
