How to properly divide a cactus?
My favorite sharp fluffy has got children, and they really stuck to him. Please tell me how to properly take them from him?

It's probably best to wait until they grow up and fall off on their own. Well, if you can’t wait, then try breaking them off from the main plant. then just dry it for two days and only then plant it in moist soil. This way the kids won't rot.
We also simply broke off new shoots and planted them in pots after drying them first. Do you know the name of the cactus, what species it belongs to?
There are so many cacti!!! And often they are very similar to each other. For example, all my cacti are gifts from friends, so I don’t know a single name, alas...
I don’t know the name, the cactus was a gift. I didn’t break off the kids, the cactus looks even better with them.
It’s a pity that such a name as a gifted houseplant is not familiar to you. ;-D And if your cactus looks better with its babies, then why did you want to take them away from it? let them live as a family.
I broke off the babies when small roots appeared on them. I replanted it immediately, without drying it out. Everything was settling in well.
Such shoots do not fall off on their own; they can simply be broken off and poked into the ground. This is the only plant that does not need to be placed in water for it to germinate.
When aerial roots appear on the children, they can be carefully separated and planted in the ground. This is how I propagate all cacti. In any case, the children must be removed from the main plant, otherwise they draw nutrients from it and the flower is weaker and may die over time.
You tear it off, but it’s better to use rotational movements carefully, you can wear mittens so as not to prick your fingers, and you get the baby. There is no need to put it in water, just plant it in slightly moistened soil. There is no need to cover the top either. Cacti take root easily.
After planting and a little watering, we always cover the cactus with a plastic cup; it takes root better this way. You cannot take the cactus with your hand without gloves, because the needles are thin and it is not so easy to remove them from the skin.
