How often should you replant an orchid?
I have had an orchid in my apartment for three years now; it has bloomed twice already. I feel like it’s a little cramped in the pot - the roots are coming out with all their might. But I’m afraid, is it worth replanting it or are the roots coming out normal? There are no concerns on the part of the leaves, everything looks fine, and, to be honest, it keeps putting out new roots. Maybe that's good? Experienced flower growers, tell me!
A healthy orchid must be replanted once every 2 years. In this case, it is worth choosing a transparent pot with a fairly large number of holes. This is done to ensure that the roots participate in the process of photosynthesis and feed the water well. Place the roots in a flowerpot and fill the space with drainage. It is better to replant in the spring - summer period.
When replanting, pay attention to the roots. If there are rotten ones, remove them. And if the roots come out, this is quite normal for an orchid. And another important point - fertilize the orchid the day after watering so that the roots do not get burned.
