Forsythia
I bought this wonderful shrub in the spring and planted it in the country. Of course, this year the bush is still small and hasn’t bloomed at all, but I hope to grow it big and beautiful. Judging by the fact that the leaves are growing on it, the bush has taken root in its new location. Who has forsythia, what are the features of caring for this plant, does it need to be fed and pruned and when is the best time to do it?
This is a cool plant, but I’ve never seen it in real life. Do its leaves always have these yellow leaves or was the photo taken in the fall? I would gladly plant such a miracle in the corners of my square flower bed. Can you tell me how big it grows?
These are not yellow leaves, but flowers. Forsythia is beautiful because it blooms so vigorously, and it does so before all other plants in early spring, when there are not even any leaves yet. The rest of the year it is an ordinary bush.
I've heard a lot about this shrub. It looks very beautiful in the spring along with a composition of tulips and other spring bulbs. But if you buy forsythia, it is better to take terry, it is much more beautiful.
I only saw such a plant in photographs, and one day in the spring I was thinking about buying it, but I never received exact recommendations from the seller, so I abandoned the idea.
My neighbor in the country has forsythia. She is very beautiful when she is small and if you take care of her. Otherwise, it turns into a disheveled bush that has no appearance.
If I'm not mistaken, this shrub can reach 4 meters in height and 2 meters in width. It is very beautiful when flowering, but takes up too much space. You can give the bush a beautiful round shape. You can trim it, but fertilize it only if you have “poor” soil on your site.
This plant does not require special care. Only in the spring is it worth applying kemira - this fertilizer and digging up the bush. There is no need to water frequently. Forsythia tolerates heat better than excess moisture. And for the winter, be sure to cover the roots and tie the branches.
jmakaaa, can you tell me, if the bush is so big, then there is no need to prune it for the winter? there won't be any cover for him? Or can it not be cut? I really liked forsythia, but they probably don’t grow it here in the North-West...
I also really want such bushes, but as far as I know, care is not difficult. For now I’m making room for them and making a flower bed. I learned about pruning that it should be done as needed at any time of the year. Watering is moderate.
