Terry mock orange
I recently learned that this shrub is correctly called not jasmine, but mock orange. I read about it, it doesn’t seem to be a particularly whimsical plant. Is this true? And I’m very interested: if our climate is average (moderate), and the plant is sun-loving, will it take root in our dacha?
If you plant jasmine, it will definitely take root. Here in the North-West, jasmine bushes grow very well, for several decades. The beauty is indescribable! And mock orange and jasmine, in my opinion, are one and the same.
I myself have long wanted to plant mock orange under the windows at the dacha, but I didn’t know that it has double varieties. And since the plant is unpretentious, the main thing is to plant it in early spring, so that it is easier for it to adapt to new conditions.
Jasmine is a very picky plant, but it looks so good! I won’t remember the smell anymore. Be sure to plant it!
If you can tolerate the smell of jasmine itself, then you can plant this shrub even under the window, but my mother cannot stand this smell, she has a headache, so I had to plant it away from the house.
This plant can grow in any zone, although ask around at your local market for varieties specific to your region. In general, mock orange does not require any special attention.
If you love mock orange, you can plant several varieties with different flowering periods at once and enjoy the sight of blooming mock orange for about 2 months. One variety blooms approximately for about 2 weeks.
It will definitely take root! My grandfather planted mock orange jasmine in our yard when I was born. I won’t say how much has already come to me, but the bush is still growing, delighting with flowering.
