Propagation of black currant

Even a schoolchild knows about the benefits of blackcurrant, because it is one of the richest sources of vitamin C. In addition, currants are very easy to grow in personal plots, which is why it can often be found both in courtyards and in gardens and just in the vegetable garden.
Propagation of black currant can be done quickly and easily. In order to preserve the purity of the blackcurrant bush, it is propagated layering, cuttings or dividing the bush. Each of these methods does not require much effort, but still requires some basic knowledge.
The easiest way to propagate black currants is bush division. To do this, in early spring the currant bush must be well watered so that the soil at its root softens. Then dig up the bush and remove all old or rotten branches. Young shoots 1-2 years of age should be shortened to 20-30 cm.
These procedures can be done either with pruning shears or with a garden file. Now the bush is cut into several parts with a sharp ax for planting young plants. At the same time, the branches of future bushes should already have well-developed buds at the base, and the root system should be well developed. Young bushes are planted in fertilized pits.
Another simple way is to propagate black currants. cuttings. For this method, cuttings are prepared already in February, cutting them from a currant bush measuring 30-40 cm. In order for the cuttings to take root faster, they can be pre-soaked in water, loading the ends of the shoots into a container. After 3-4 weeks, roots will appear. Now the shoots need to be placed in a jar and a handful of earth should be added to the water every day, so the currants will develop in a creamy mass from the earth. Before planting, treat currants with a growth enhancer. Future currant bushes should be planted in early April.

Thanks to the author for useful tips. We have been growing currants for several years now, growing new bushes from cuttings. It's easy too. No special worries, I buried a twig and it took root. Let's try dividing the bush, but won't the plant hurt a lot after such a procedure?
