Fertilizing potatoes is the key to a high yield
Potatoes are one of the most popular crops cultivated by Russians. This is not surprising, because this is the second bread. Therefore, applying fertilizers to potatoes is the most important procedure on which its yield depends.
The best form of organic fertilizer for potatoes is well-rotted straw manure and composts, which maintain humus reserves in the ground. If there is no manure, green manure is used: sweet clover, lupine, and peas are plowed under the potatoes.
In addition, adding 300 grams of ash per square meter is effective, but it is imperative to dust the planting material itself with ash.
The universal potato fertilizer Kemira is one of the most effective long-acting agents. The composition includes all the microelements that help this crop grow and develop (nitrogen, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium). Fertilizer is applied at the rate of 10 kilograms per one hundred square meters of land.
Among other mineral fertilizers, experts recommend using superphosphate and potassium sulfate (20 grams per 1 square meter), superphosphate and potassium permanganate. Fertilizers are applied to potatoes before digging the soil for planting.
The simultaneous use of phosphorus, nitrogen, and potassium fertilizers is not recommended. It is best to adhere to this algorithm: apply fertilizer the first time before digging the soil, and place it in the hole the second time when planting.
In spring, fertilizers are best applied to already dry soil.It is unacceptable to use fertilizers containing lime, and especially pure lime, to add fertilizers to a hole with planting material.
