Late blight on tomatoes is enemy number one

The tomato is a very demanding plant; to ripen the fruit it needs a sufficient amount of heat, moisture, and lightening. The tomato is not resistant to various pests. Most often they are exposed to late blight. Signs of the disease are brown spots on the leaves, which gradually become larger and lead to the death of the leaves.
Late blight on tomatoes damages the stems and fruits and makes them unfit for consumption. More often, pathogens spread to tomatoes from potatoes. Areas with these vegetables should be planted far away and separated by other crops.
How to deal with late blight:
- carry out preventive spraying with a 0.5% solution of copper sulfate and slaked lime, Bordeaux mixture (every 7 - 10 days.
- Resistance to the disease is increased by fertilizing with phosphorus-potassium fertilizers.
- spray with chemicals against late blight.
Among the folk methods of combating late blight on tomatoes, gardeners use spraying with milk or kefir, diluting these products with water in a ratio of 1 liter to 10 liters of water. It is practiced to spray tomatoes with iodine (one bottle per 10 liters of water). The procedure must be repeated after 10 - 15 days.
Late blight on tomatoes can lead to loss of up to 70% of the crop, so it is better to take preventive measures and prevent the development of the disease.
