Indian onion - a useful plant

Indian onion or as it may also be called ornithogalum, brandushka, ornithischium tailed - a perennial bulbous plant that belongs to the lily family. It has nothing to do with the regular bow we all know.
Indian onions reproduce by sessile bulbs, from which grow flat leaves that curl into a tube at the end. Large bulbs bloom annually in indoor conditions in November–December.
In the second year after planting, the onion appears with a fleshy, large, empty peduncle, at least fifty cm long. Along its length there are flowers that do not bloom simultaneously, but gradually, starting from the bottom and ending at the top. There are many flowers; up to hundreds of flowers can appear on one branch. By the time the last flower blooms, the first one to bloom already has seeds. Since onions bloom in winter, there is no one to pollinate them, so this procedure must be done by the owner of the plant using a brush.
The medicinal properties of Indian onions have not yet been fully studied, but traditional medicine widely uses it for external pain relief for bruises, joint pain, for healing wounds, abscesses, for getting rid of headaches and acute respiratory infections.
Indian onion is extremely poisonous, it cannot be used internally, only externally!
All active and valuable substances are contained in onion juice, which, when it comes into contact with the skin, increases blood flow to the problem area, which reduces pain. When using it, you need to remember that the juice causes a strong burning sensation where it is applied. To avoid severe allergies, it is better to carry out a test: apply an onion leaf to a small area of skin near the elbow (where the skin is the most delicate and thin) for about five minutes; if within an hour after the procedure, rashes appear on the skin and severe itching occurs, then Indian onion It is better not to include it in your list of medications. If everything went well, then you can use the onion, but carefully, make sure that its juice does not get on the mucous membranes.
And it is advisable to consult a doctor.

Hmm, at first I thought it was a type of green onion. It’s good that I later read that it is poisonous.
This plant lives on my balcony. For me, it blooms so amazingly beautifully, I don’t even know why I liked it so much. To be honest, I didn’t know it was poisonous. I'll take it away from the cat.
