Monarda

Many gardeners try to plant plants that combine medicinal and decorative qualities. Monarda is one of these. We know this crop better under the name Melissa and lemon balm. The decorative qualities of the plant are not so great, but its mass cultivation or combination with other flowers will give any flowerbed a special flavor.

Creating conditions under which the plant will feel ideal is not so difficult. Shade or partial shade - monarda flowers are not so picky about lighting. But the plant does not thrive in acidic soils. Melissa is a winter-hardy crop. Caring for it during the growth period is standard and consists of weeding, loosening and watering. Fertilizer will also be required before planting and after flowering. For the winter, the part of the bush located above the ground is cut off.

For planting, you can use monarda seeds, seedlings or part of a bush obtained by division. This section contains more detailed information for the gardener about the rules for planting seeds in the ground or for seedlings, requirements for cultivation, care, etc.
