Chestnut
Incredibly attractive and beloved by many, the chestnut comes from Europe. The tree grows up to 30 m in height with a crown diameter of about 20 m. The shape of the dense crown can be ovoid or round. The annual growth in height is up to 50 cm. The tree is light-loving and grows well in non-saline, drained and moist soil. Soil fertility is unimportant for it.
It is most beautiful during the flowering period, when it produces pyramid-shaped inflorescences. Chestnuts can be planted either as individual trees or in group plantings. When planting a chestnut, you should take into account the fact that as the tree grows, it will give increasingly dense shade, so even grass will not grow within a radius of approximately 2 m around the trunk.
Chestnuts are planted from germinated seeds, which ripen by early autumn. After germination, seedlings 2-3 years old are best accepted in a new chosen location. Subsequent care of the chestnut involves regularly loosening the soil without weeding out the grass, which allows it to retain moisture longer. The crown must be formed during the growth of the chestnut.
