Saxifrage

Saxifraga is a perennial light-loving plant. Loves moderate amounts of moisture, garden soils, and is winter hardy. The plant blooms very beautifully and is decorative.

Over 370 species of saxifrage are known, which grow on almost all continents. There are plants with rounded whole leaves and bryophytes. The latter species forms dense, very beautiful emerald green carpets.

Caring for saxifrage involves creating growth conditions in the light, on well-drained light soils. Transplantation is possible in rare cases, since the plant can grow in one place for a long time.

Reproduction of saxifrage occurs by dividing the bush, in which at the end of summer the rosettes are divided and immediately planted in sufficiently moist soil. The distance between the rosettes is about 12-14 cm. In order for the rooting process to proceed as quickly as possible, it is advisable to shade the transplant site and water it abundantly. Next year it will be possible to plant saxifrage in a permanent prepared place.

A bright and unusually delicate plant is perfect for creating compositions in border and landscape designs. You can find out more detailed information about care in the section of our website.
