Lingonberries grow wild in coniferous and deciduous forests. Its fruits are bright red in color, so they easily attract the attention of birds and animals. As a result, seeds are dispersed over long distances. It is also interesting that the roots of lingonberries are covered with fungal mycelium, thanks to which they receive the necessary minerals from the soil.

From a medical point of view, the properties of lingonberries turn out to be very valuable for the treatment of kidneys, gout, urolithiasis, etc. That is why breeders have developed cultivars of the plant. To grow lingonberries in the garden, you will need an area with loose soil with a pH value of no more than 4.5. The best option is high-moor peat.

It is very important that lingonberries are grown in an area with well-organized drainage. The groundwater level should be no more than 0.5 m. If the environment is alkaline or neutral, the soil is regularly acidified. To propagate lingonberries, you can use cuttings, daughter plants and seeds.
